Parisiis Christianus Wechelus, 1540. Small in-4o, 15,5 X 9,5 cm, 130 + 1 printer's mark pp. of doule latin and greek text, modern 1/2 parchemin binding, clean text with wood printed initials. Th. Gaza arrived in Italy in 1453 escaping the turkish occupation and became professor of greek at the University of Ferrara where he found later an academy to offset the Platonic academy of Plethon at Florence. He worked at different places in Italy having as patrons the Pope Nicholas V, Alphonso Magnanimus and Cardinal Bessarion. Among his students names as Rod. Agricola, Dem. Chalcondyles, Andr. Callistus are to be found and his elegant translations in latin and in greek gained him a great fame. His greek grammar was first published in Venice in 1495 and translated by Erasmus in 1521. J. Tussanus (Jacques Toussain, ca 1498 -1547) was named professor in 1521. .Very rare edition not to be found in the european computerized catalogues or in Adams, B.M.C., Brunet.
